The inertial sensor, commonly known as the inertial navigation system (INS), determines spaceship attitude in relation to the inertial system using an accelerometer and gyro. The accelerometer is used to measure the carrier's motion acceleration, which is subsequently utilized to calculate the carrier's real-time location.
An inertial measurement unit (IMU) is an electronic device that uses a combination of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and magnetometers to measure and report a body's particular force, angular rate, and sometimes orientation.
Inertial sensors are used to convert inertial force into detectable electrical impulses in order to measure an object's acceleration, tilt, and vibration. MEMS (Micro Electromechanical System) inertial sensors constructed from single-crystal silicon sensor elements are now possible thanks to advances in micromachining technology.
