What is bipolar stepper motor?

Bipolar stepper motors are stepper motors that have only one winding per phase and no center tap (unlike a unipolar stepper motor). To reverse a magnetic pole and allow the motor to function, the DC current in a winding must be reversed.

How does a bipolar motor work?

H-bridge circuitry is used in bipolar drivers to reverse the current flow through the phases. By alternating the polarity of the phases, all of the coils can be put to work turning the motor. A two-phase bipolar motor has two coil groups.

Is unipolar better than bipolar?

The symptoms of unipolar depression and bipolar depression are similar, with three key differences: 1) Bipolar depression is more episodic than unipolar depression; 2) Bipolar depression may progress to mania, and 3) Bipolar depression treatment differs from unipolar depression treatment due to the mania risk.
