What does MEMS sensor measure?

MEMS, or Micro Electro-Mechanical System, is a chip-based technology in which sensors are made up of a suspended mass sandwiched between two capacitive plates. This suspended material causes an electrical potential difference when the sensor is tilted. The generated differential is then measured as a capacitance change.
