Chip beads are used to absorb high-frequency noise and convert it to heat in order to filter out undesired signals (noise). Multilayer vs. Wire Wound Wire Wound and Multilayer Ferrite chip beads are available from Laird Inductive components.
Using a multimeter, measure the voltage across the known resistor and the ferrite bead. A scope can also be used (if you have one). Take note of the two voltages as well as the frequency. Calculate the current using the resistor value and the voltage measured.
We know the frequency of interference when we buy ferrite magnetic rings. The higher the difference between the interior and outer diameters of the ferrite ring magnet, the longer the axial length, and the greater the impedance. The inner diameter, however, must be tightened.
