What does a Rs-485 transceiver do?

RS-485 is an industrial specification that defines the electrical interface and physical layer for point-to-point communication of electrical devices. The RS-485 standard allows for long cabling distances in electrically noisy environments and can support multiple devices on the same bus.

Is RS422 and RS485 the same?

The RS485 Standard is similar to the RS422 standard upon which it is based. The main difference is that up to 32 transmitter receiver pairs may be present on the line at one time. A 120 Ohm resistor should be used to terminate either end of the main line.

Is RS485 the same as Ethernet?

In fact, there is no such thing as an RS485 cable since RS485 is a protocol for serial communication (like between inverter and Zero export device) and Ethernet is a protocol for carrying internet data (between router and inverter) whereas CAT6 is a cable standard.
