As per arithmetic operations, these microcontrollers are different from each other. Each type of microcontroller has its own range of data set. For an 8-bit microcontroller, it can handle only 0 to 255 bits and 16-bit can handle 0 to 65,535 and a 32-bit microcontroller can handle up to 0 to 4,29,49,67,295.
8-bit MCUs are still used in plenty of products in legacy products and in new designs. 8-bit MCUs tend to be easier to program and understand on a deep level compared to 32-bit MCUs and are not likely to go away as long as an 8-bit MCU costs less than an equivalent 32-bit MCU.
The STM8 is an 8-bit microcontroller family by STMicroelectronics. The STM8 microcontrollers use an extended variant of the ST7 microcontroller architecture. STM8 microcontrollers are particularly low cost for a full-featured 8-bit microcontroller.
