BS170 is a well-known N channel MOSFET manufactured in the TO-92 package. produced using Fairchild's proprietary high-density DMOS cell technology. This ultra-high-density process is designed to minimize resistance in the state while providing robust, reliable, and fast switching performance.

What’s the difference between BS170 and 2N7000?

The 2N7000 can switch 200 mA. The BS170 can switch 500 mA, with a maximum on-resistance of 5 Ω at 10 V Vgs. The 2N7002 is a similar part with the same electrical characteristics as the 2N7000 but different package.

P-Channel MOSFET is a classification of Metal Oxide Semiconductor Device. This consists of the n-substrate in the middle with light doping concentration. These are the three terminals devices.
